Healthy Dracula ant queen currently in the founding stage with eggs. A fascinating and uncommon species suited to an experienced keeper who understands their specialised care and feeding requirements. This species is highly sensitive to light, vibration and frequent disturbance. When stressed, the queen may consume her own brood, so she should be kept somewhere dark and quiet and checked as little as possible. She comes in her current established test-tube setup to minimise disturbance during transport. Full transparency: small external grain/storage mites were recently noticed around the former incubator and feeding area. None have been observed attached to the queen. Her tube has been cleaned externally, isolated and monitored, with mite numbers continuing to decline. Located on the Gold Coast.
