About the service
Ants Online is an Australian community marketplace and noticeboard. It lets members publish listings and contact each other. Ants Online is not the seller, buyer, breeder, shipper, payment provider, escrow service or agent in a member transaction.
Who may use Ants Online
You must be at least 18 years old and located in Australia to create an account, publish a listing or use Ants Online to arrange a transaction. The marketplace is for Australian listings and Australian transactions only. Do not use it to arrange international imports, exports or overseas transactions.
You must provide an email address you control, keep access to it secure and take responsibility for activity through your account. Do not impersonate another person, create accounts to evade moderation or collect member information without permission.
Listings and member content
Listings must be accurate, current, lawful and relevant to the marketplace. You must have the right to offer the animal or item and to use the words and images you submit. Do not post scams, misleading claims, prohibited animals or items, dangerous instructions, unlawful collection or movement, harassment, or content that infringes another person's rights.
You must own the content you submit or have all permissions needed for Ants Online to use it as described below. This includes permission from the photographer or other copyright owner and from any identifiable person. Do not upload an image of another person, a child, a private document, a logo or other third-party material unless you have permission for its public and promotional use.
Your ownership and Ants Online's content licence
You keep ownership of your content. When you submit listing text, images, public profile information or other content intended to be public, you give Ants Online a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, crop, format, publish, communicate and display that public content:
- to operate, secure, improve and moderate Ants Online; and
- to promote and market Ants Online and its marketplace, including on the website, in Ants Online emails and newsletters, organic or paid social media, online or offline advertising, and Ants Online editorial or educational content.
Ants Online may give its hosting, design, production, publishing, advertising and media providers only the permissions reasonably needed to create and distribute Ants Online material on its behalf. This does not transfer ownership to Ants Online or those providers, permit their independent reuse, or allow Ants Online to sell your content as stock content or license it for an unrelated third party's products or services.
Ants Online may make reasonable technical or promotional edits, such as cropping, resizing, adding a caption or combining an image with Ants Online branding. We will not materially misrepresent the content or present it as your personal endorsement or testimonial without separate agreement. We may credit your public display name or username, but will not include your private email address, exact address or postcode, private messages, reports or support requests in promotional material.
The expanded promotional uses in this section apply to public content you submit or resubmit on or after 21 August 2026. Ants Online will ask for separate permission before selecting older content for a new paid advertisement unless you later resubmit it after receiving the updated notice.
This licence starts when you submit the content and continues while it remains public on Ants Online. If you archive or delete it, close your account, or ask us through the private privacy form to stop promotional use, we will stop selecting it for new promotional material and take reasonable steps to end future use. Please allow reasonable time to remove it from active campaigns. We cannot always recall printed material or copies already lawfully published, shared or cached, and may retain limited backup or legal records as described in the privacy policy.
Transactions are between members and at their own risk
An email-verification badge confirms control of an email address only. It is not proof of identity, reputation, legal ownership, species, condition, health, safety or trustworthiness.
Buyers and sellers decide whether to proceed and do so at their own risk. Each member is responsible for checking the other party, the animal or item, price, payment method, condition, species, legal ownership, permits, wildlife and biosecurity rules, animal welfare, packaging, shipping and handover arrangements.
Ants Online does not handle payment or guarantee any transaction. Scams, non-delivery, misdescription, loss, damage and other disputes are matters between the members involved. Ants Online may accept a report or assist with moderation, but does not promise to investigate, recover money, replace an item or resolve a dispute.
Moderation and availability
Listings are generally published without pre-approval. Ants Online may review, reject, archive or remove content after a report or when reasonably needed, restrict or close accounts, and preserve relevant records to protect the service or community. The absence of moderation is not an endorsement or a guarantee that content is accurate or safe. The service may change, be interrupted or stop operating.
Liability and rights that cannot be excluded
Ants Online is provided as a free community service on an “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ants Online is not responsible for loss arising from member content, contact or transactions, including scams, payment loss, non-delivery, animal injury or death, unlawful movement, or reliance on a listing.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
