Beautiful jet black spiny ant queen.

This species is relatively common along the coast of QLD and NSW.

Size is mid-range for Polyrhachis, between 7-8mm.

Ant Care: Queens of the genus Polyrhachis are semi-claustral, and need to be fed sugars and proteins regularly. These queens will do best in their test tube setups for now, and I wouldn’t put them into a nest or outworld during the colony founding process. They are currently being fed sugar water/honey 3 times a week alternating liquid-protein and mealworms when applicable.
